Dear brothers and sisters!
In this crucial period of our nation’s history, we all feel the burden of trials, but at the same time we see how our faith and unity give us the strength to withstand challenges. For three years now, Ukraine has been heroically resisting Russia’s full-scale armed aggression, defending its freedom and independence. We realize that our struggle is not only a military affair, but also a spiritual feat of prayer and fasting before the Lord.
Prayer is a powerful tool that strengthens the spirit, gives strength and opens the way to God’s protection and blessing. That is why the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has decided to establish a National Day of Prayer to be celebrated annually on February 24. This is the day when all Ukrainians will be united in their prayers to God for peace, victory and restoration of our country.
We urge you to support this initiative and do everything possible to spread it among church communities.
We offer:
- To declare February 24 the Day of Fasting and Prayer.
- Hold prayer vigils at the national and local levels.
- To hold a meeting of remembrance and prayer for Ukraine in every church.
- Encourage believers to participate in the National Marathon of Fasting and Prayer.
We believe that common prayer and unity of believers will bring spiritual renewal, peace and restoration to Ukraine. We ask you to support this initiative and spread it among your communities.
With prayer for Ukraine,
Bishop Oleksandr Zaitsev
Chairman of the Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine
