ROCU discusses the need to strengthen Ukraine’s advocacy in the international arena

On Thursday, November 30, the final meeting of the Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine in 2023 was held, during which issues of church-state relations, advocacy of our country’s interests on international platforms, and a number of other pressing issues were discussed.

In particular, they discussed legislative initiatives, the practice of mobilizing clergy, chaplaincy, proposed changes to humanitarian aid, and the need to counter Russian propaganda.

In conclusion, Senior Bishop of Salvation Philip Savochka thanked the members of the Council for the honor of presiding in 2023 and proposed to elect Senior Bishop Anatoliy Kozachko as chairman for the new year.

Also during the meeting, applications for membership in the Council were considered by four more associations: the New Generation Union of Jewish Communities of Messianic Judaism, the Union of the Church of God of Ukraine, and the Peremoha Center for the Christianity of the Jewish Community. Over the next year, they will be able to attend the Council’s meetings as observers.

This year, the Council held two meetings in Kyiv and an international summit with the World Evangelical Alliance in Warsaw.

Another significant achievement was the implementation of a project with the EAU to support Ukrainian pastors who have been particularly affected by the war and a common position on condemning the Russian invasion.

As a result, a Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding was signed with the World Evangelical Alliance, after which the ROCU became a national partner of this influential organization.
